Seso Celebrates Major Milestones at the Close of the Year

Seso, the workforce management platform for agriculture, is celebrating the close of a landmark year. In 2022, Seso raised $25 million in Series A funding, experienced significant customer growth, increased the agricultural workforce, expanded its product offerings, received widespread industry recognition, and added to its employee headcount. Each of these milestones is a testament to the strength of Seso's platform, its users, and its team, and underscores the importance of the company's mission- to create a stronger, more equitable and efficient food production system in the U.S.

"I founded Seso to address the labor issues plaguing the agricultural industry and help build a more ethical, sustainable system for farmers and workers," says Michael Guirguis, Seso's CEO and Co-Founder. "It was a big, bold and challenging vision, and reflecting back on this past year, I am so proud of all that our team has accomplished. From growth to product development to the ROI for our customers, Seso is surpassing all expectations, and will continue to do so in the years to come."

Here is a closer look at all that Seso has achieved this year:

Customer Growth: Since Seso launched in 2021, it has signed 10 of the 20 largest employers in the industry, and more than tripled its customer base. These customers have used Seso's platform to recruit and streamline their agricultural workforce with tools that provide compliance, visa automation, applicant tracking, and workforce management, and they have quickly seen impressive results.

"Seso has helped us tremendously by keeping the H-2A process organized and on track," says Bob Erickson, General Manager at Foothill Packing. "The ability to track how the petitions are moving through all the government agencies, all in one place with complete transparency, is really exciting for us."

"If you've ever tried to manage an H-2A job order, you know how difficult it can be," says Tyler Rodrigue, CEO and Co-Founder of Noble Vineyard Services. "Seso's platform creates a linear path for the H-2A application legal process. I love the way the platform makes the H-2A process clear - that makes execution so much easier."

Increasing the agricultural workforce: Agricultural production in the US relies on seasonal migrant workers, but the challenges involved in hiring these workers have helped create an ongoing labor shortage that is holding American food production back. Seso's innovative approachto bringing workers to the US is playing a critical role in bridging these gaps. In 2022, Seso grew annual worker volume by 8X year over year, providing them with the opportunity to earn steady income and better provide for their families.

"This program has been life changing," said Eduardo Castillo, a worker who participates in the H-2A visa program. "It has given me the opportunity to grow and learn. If you are fortunate enough to find an employer that is willing to sponsor your H-2A visa so you are able to provide sustenance for your family, you have to be grateful and committed to the program."

Product expansion: In 2022, Seso launched a number of new features and products that strengthen the platform, remove friction, and provide more value and transparency to customers and workers alike. With petition filing and compliance support for individual H-2A contracts, Seso now offers support for job order and application filing; a visa application timeline; digital recruitment reports; digital audit files; and asset management. Seso also introduced self-filer software, with at-a-glance contract views, the automated creation of I-129s-named or unnamed-with transfers and extensions, and the automatic upload of CSVs with FLAG.

In addition, Seso added digital worker onboarding to its capabilities. This product comprehensively digitizes any onboarding packet so workers and staff can complete their onboarding paperwork online, confirm or modify pre-filled information, and easily sign forms on a tablet or mobile device. Furthermore, if the employer needs to review or access any signed onboarding paperwork, they can easily fetch and retrieve any specific onboarding document or information from the Seso platform.

Employee Growth: This year, Seso more than tripled its number of employees based on a remote model across the U.S. and Mexico, Canada, Colombia, and Guatemala. It also established new teams and an office in Monterrey, Mexico to support company growth and meet the needs of customers. Seso has continued its partnerships with leading VCs, including Index Ventures, which led the Series A round, and NFX and Founders Fund, co-leads of Seso's Seed Funding, as well as K5 Ventures, Operator Partners, Shrug Capital, and The Chainsmokers' Mantis Fund.

Industry Recognition: A reflection of Seso's accomplishments, and an accomplishment itself, was the widespread industry recognition the company received from the media and tech visionaries. Forbes Cloud 100 listed Seso as a "Rising Star." Business Insider highlighted Seso in its lineup of "Most Promising b2b marketplaces in 2022" and Andreessen Horowitz recognized Seso as one of 50 companies representing American dynamism and companies building the American workforce.
