Orange Named Global Top Employer

By Casey Houser, Contributing Writer

Top Employers Institute examines the global workforce to determine which employers stand above the rest. It wants to find the employers that treat their employees with respect and provide a professional environment that can harness their talents. In short, it tries to figure out: Where would you want to work?

The organization’s release of its annual Global Top Employer in the Americas awards points out which employers in Brazil, Canada, and the U.S. have met its high standards. This year, Orange (News - Alert) Business Services, took home the prize of “Global Top Employer 2016” for its continuing demonstration that it can keep its employees happy and within a positive work environment. Mark Kenealy, the senior vice president of the Americas division of Orange Business Services (News - Alert), commented on the win.

“Providing a happy environment for your people to work in and knowing they have a good work-life balance is really important to Orange,” Kenealy said. “I am a firm believer that employee satisfaction leads to customer satisfaction, and our recent customer surveys show this to be true. I am delighted and honored we were awarded these distinctions.”

Top Employers’ process begins when it determines which employers are eligible to participate in its annual research. Companies must apply and meet a number of criteria to even be considered for inclusion. They must employ at least 250 employees nationally or 2,500 employees worldwide and submit a research fee in addition to completing an external validation of their organizations. Following that, a member of each employer’s human resources team must fill out the HR Best Practices Survey. Top Employers’ validates the claims HR makes by conducting a phone interview and on-site validation visit.

After all that is complete, a third party completes an audit of each participating organization. Top Employers’ then evaluates each employer individually against an international standard that it revises each year to match the changing demands of all workplaces. It pays attention, in particular, to each company’s talent strategy and how it developers leaders from within its ranks. It also notes the compensation and benefits packages each employee receives at these participating organizations.

In the end, Top Employers’ said Orange offers its employees an “outstanding employee environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives” that can improve their expertise as workers and their ambitions for management. This has placed it among the elite applicants and showed that it deserves the award it received this year.
