Juniper Subsidiary Mist Helps European Transportation Company Manage Workforce

By Tracey E. Schelmetic, Workforce Management Contributor

Analytics coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) has benefited many industries, but few more than transportation logistics. The proper use of big data can make or break a transportation company’s success, so most companies have transitioned themselves to be able to use predictive analytics driven by AI to cut out inefficiencies and waste and boost profit. As the transport and logistics market grows, it feeds itself: more data points mean a need for more analytics, which means heavier reliance on artificial intelligence (AI) to generate actionable intelligence.

Juniper Networks (News - Alert) Inc. subsidiary Mist Systems, which it acquired in March of 2019, recently announced that its Wireless LAN platform has been chosen by a large Benelux-based transportation and logistics company, Transports Vervaeke. Transports Vervaeke serves customers all over Europe, transporting chemicals, gas, fuel and other dangerous goods. It also offers a wide range of international logistics services by road, train and sea. The company is in the process of modernizing its fleet management operations, starting with the customization, maintenance and operation of the applications, systems and processes needed to manage 750 tractors, 1,000 tank trailers and 750 tank containers.

The goal is to leverage Mist’s AI-driven platform to enhance the productivity of Transports Vervaeke’s workforce with modernized enterprise solutions. Transports Vervaeke’s new capabilities on the Mist platform will be designed by Juniper’s Elite Partner, Infradata, which provides cyber-security and automation solutions to enterprises as well as network operators, according to the companies.

The goal is to leverage the combined synergies of Mist’s AI-network and Transports Vervaeke’s fleet management operations to deploy a technologically-driven workforce across Europe. In addition to leveraging Mist’s next-gen WiFi (News - Alert) solution, Transports Vervaeke is hoping to capitalize on the AI-backed virtual network assistant Marvis to quickly identify the root causes of issues and problems across the IT domain and simplify network operations. Using Marvis, Transports Vervaeke has been able to reduce troubleshooting time.

Equipped with an integrated help desk platform, this AI-engine uses machine learning to perform functions like anomaly detection and trigger automated workflows to rapidly resolve device problems. To add to that, Mist’s WxLAN policy engine and Bluetooth Low Energy technology seamlessly supports field workers with robust network connectivity and enhances indoor location services with unprecedented accuracy and agility.
