Workforce Management Ecosystem Shiftsmart Announces New Hires and Promotions

Shiftsmart has been described as a “labor management ecosystem.” The company was founded in 2015 to connect today’s more dynamic and flexible workforce with companies facing increasingly complex staffing requirements. The platform works like an online workforce management marketplace that connects skilled workers to companies via an app. The goal, according to the company, is to empower workers with flexible hours, better pay, and greater opportunity by building a labor ecosystem for individuals and organizations alike.


Shiftsmart recently announced some personnel changes: two appointments, one addition, and several promotions to its executive leadership team. The changes include:

The appointment of Richard Zicchino to chief financial officer. Zicchino joined Shiftsmart in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer. His experience includes key executive positions in strategic finance, operations, and mergers and acquisitions. During his career, he has managed nearly 20 acquisitions and their subsequent integrations. Prior to Shiftsmart, he served as Vice President of Finance at Synacor (News - Alert) after managing the merger from its acquisition of Zimbra.

The promotion of Lauren Blake to VP of Product. Blake, formerly Head of Product, now leads the planning and execution of Shiftsmart's product lifecycle. Blake's primary role is overseeing the smooth convergence of the worker, the employer and the Shiftsmart platform so that all participants align with the vision to empower the modern workforce.

The hiring of Rob Hoy as VP of Partner Experience. Hoy is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding and engagement of workers, known as partners, on the Shiftsmart platform. Hoy joined Shiftsmart in 2020 following roles at SiteMinder, Airbnb, and Google (News - Alert).

The appointment of Sahil Mehta to VP of Sales. Mehta, formerly VP of Retail & Hospitality, is now responsible for global expansion, top-line growth, and customer success. Since joining Shiftsmart in 2017, Mehta has held key leadership positions in the areas of business development, client engagement, and delivery.

The promotion of Kyle Smialek to VP of Operations. Formerly General Manager of Shiftsmart's Flex Contact Center, Smialek is now responsible for global operations and execution of Shiftsmart's distributed workforce businesses inclusive of remote call centers, audits, inspections, and event staffing.

Aakash Kumar, Shiftsmart's Founder and CEO, said the company is preparing to kick into strong growth mode.

"These recent promotions and appointments put our leadership team in position to lead the next phase of Shiftsmart's growth and expansion,” he said in a statement. “The company is well positioned for continued success with such a breadth of talent at the helm.”
